Ignition Not Working
The Sure-Lite™ ignition system consists of both a push button ignitor and the electrode(s). The electrode may develop a buildup of grease or oxidization that may hamper the performance of the spark. Troubleshoot by following these simple steps:
First, make sure that it is only the battery that needs to be replaced. Simply unscrew the push button, pull out the old battery and test with a new one. If you hear a clicking sound, and the burner lights, then you have fixed the problem. If it still doesn’t ignite, please go to step 2.
You will need to remove the cooking grids and Flav-R-Wave™ heat medium to access the electrode(s). Ensure the electrode wire is plugged into the igniter and securely attached to your burner. This wire can be found underneath the control panel. Clean the electrode-to-ignitor connection point with a brush or carefully with a piece of sandpaper. Re-connect the electrode to the ignitor and test by pressing the ignitor button. If you do not hear the ignitor clicking, you may need to replace it.
Push-Button
Check if the push button makes a clicking sound when you press it. If it clicks see “the electrodes”, if it does not, replace the battery and try again. To replace the battery simply unscrew the push button, pull out the old battery and test with a new one. If you still do not hear a clicking sound – please contact our customer service department.
The electrodes
You will need to remove the cooking grids and Flav-R-Wave™ heat medium to access the electrode(s). Ensure that all the electrode wires are secure at both ends. The wires can be found underneath the control panel. Next, examine the electrode; press the igniter button to see if you can see a spark. If not, try cleaning the electrode point with a brush or carefully with a piece of sandpaper.
