INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ginger root, cut into six ¼-inch thick lengths
  • ¼ cup cranberry sauce
  • ice cubes
  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 1/2 cup sparkling apple cider
  • 2-4 dark maraschino cherries, as garnish

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat your gas grill to medium-high heat (400-500°F).
  2. Grill ginger root slices for about 2 minutes per side until nicely charred. Transfer to a cutting board and set aside.
  3. Fill 2 individual old-fashioned glasses with 2 tablespoons of cranberry sauce each. Per glass, add 1 ounce of vodka and fill with about ¼ cup of sparkling apple cider, enough to fill each glass. Top with charred ginger slices. For more ginger flavour, use a muddler to release flavour. Garnish with maraschino cherries.
